Upon our arrival to Fort Mifflin, we were amazed at the size and scope of the area that we were about to investigate. We were met by fort representative, Greg, who gave us insight into the history of the fort itself, as well as stories of the paranormal activity that others had experienced. Armed with a vast array of information, we set up our stationary equipment in various locations around the fort, and then began our investigation. It is important to note that 4 female Soul Sisters investigators were the only investigators present on fort property that evening. During the night, as we carried our handheld equipment (K2 meters, thermal imaging cameras, and voice recorders) from location to location around the fort, none of us had any real personal experiences nor did any of our handheld equipment give any indication of paranormal activity. After an 8 hour investigation, our general feelings upon leaving Fort Mifflin were that it was a tremendous opportunity to investigate, but it was just not "our night" to experience anything really paranormal.... ...but then, we began reviewing the audio and video footage that was taken on all of our stationary equipment, and we discovered that Fort Mifflin is very much a place where those from the past can still be heard and seen. When Soul Sisters Paranormal investigates a location, we have numerous video cameras, night vision cameras, voice recorders, laser grids, and thermal imaging cameras that we set up to be stationary in a location and run throughout the length of the investigation. At Fort Mifflin, due to its size, we deployed every piece of equipment that we have. Clips #1 and #2 were both caught in Casemate 1. Two of the four investigators on site that night had left Casemate 1 about 15 minutes prior to these voice being recorded. Additionally, there are no male investigators in the Soul Sisters Paranormal group. Clip #1 was caught on a voice recorder left to run by itself for the night, and, we believe, it is a male voice saying the number "33". Clip #2 was caught on a night vision camera at the other end of the Casemate, and, we believe, it is another male voice saying the number "57". While the stationary equipment in Casemate 1 caught voices, foot steps and door slams throughout the night, the entities in that casemate were also responsive during our EVP sessions. During one session, investigator Kristy, ask the question "what is the name of your President". As heard in clip #3, the response, we believe, is "Lincoln". Clip #4 was taken during a second EVP session at which just two investigators were present. Investigator Michelle, stated that she was going to say a list of names and she asked any one present to give a sign if one of the names was recognized. When she said the name Robert E Lee, we believe that she received a "yes" in response. Along with Casemate 1, Casement 11 also provided us with some great audio and visual evidence. During the night, investigators Kristy and Cara were conducting an EVP session in Casemate 11. Kristy pointed out that we had left (as trigger items) water and a cigarette in the Casemate. As heard in clip #5, what was caught on the voice recorder was a clear and responsive "thank you". Also in Casemate 11, we set up a night vision camera to run along side of a laser grid (the idea being that if anything were to move inside the casemate, it would interrupt the beams of the laser grid thus allowing us to see it). While we have used this technique in other locations, this is the first time that we have successfully filmed a "shadow figure" walking through the laser grid. None of the Soul Sisters investigators were anywhere near this location at the time clip #6 was captured. Clip #7 was captured on a voice recorder in a location known as Casemate 5. During an EVP session, we were attempting to communicate with an entity known as "the Judge". Investigator Michelle asks a question regarding what year it was for the judge; trying to get an indication of the year that he died. The answer that she received is from a male voice saying "74". Clip #8 is one that is, again, interesting to us because it is an EVP that is responding to one of our investigators, but in an area that we did not expect. The bunkhouse of the fort is the location that investigators are encouraged to use as a basecamp of sorts. It is the room in which we kept our equipment cases, extra battery packs, snacks, etc. During the evening, investigators Jenny and Michelle returned to that room to retrieve another flashlight; they were the only people in that room at the time. Jenny was holding the handheld voice recorder that she carried throughout the entire night. While talking to each other inside of the room for a couple of minutes, Jenny says "Lets go" to Michelle; the voice recorder picks up another voice inside of the room and it seems to be responding the Jenny's comment; neither investigator heard this voice at the time. Clips #9 and #10 were caught in an area known as the Powder Magazine. This long, brick room is encased under dirt and very little outside noise (except for passing airplanes and fireworks) penetrated its thick walls during the night. While the occasional cricket did chirp inside of this structure, the quiet was really only broken by the numerous, unexplained EVPs that were captured on the night vision camera that we left to run on its own during the night. In clip #9, we believe a male voice is saying "whatcha doing?....help!". Clip #10 sounds like a child giggling, followed by a stern "stop it!" Our investigation at Fort Mifflin was one of the most interesting that we have conducted thus far. The paranormal evidence that we were able to capture exceeded our expectations. We are appreciative of the opportunity to investigate this historic locations, and we hope to return again soon in the future!
